Garry Frankel is a serious amateur photographer from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He volunteered on the Schwan's USA Cup media team during the 2006 tournament

The “Red Shirts”, our mobile medical staff. Dave (12 yrs with the tournament and an on
call firefighter) and Nicole (a High School Senior with plans to be a doctor) apply huge
amounts of TLC while dealing with a young Hawaiian girl’s injury. I see the soft humanity in their faces.

After three hours of delays I saw this Mexican coach and his young team in the rain. You can see the exhaustion in his face, as he rallies his troop.

The tournament’s true soldiers. Never discussed but crucial to us all. There is a huge
army of them scattered around.

Thousands of faces all focused on one spot with the bright flame to draw our eye. Loved
the huge mix of colours in the crowd.

Gelda Carvalho, who brings teams from Brazil every year. Despite the years of experience on her face she still has that radiant glow that is uniquely feminine.

I did a thousand action shots, but this is my pick to show the enthusiasm of the players in the
tournament.

Is this the essence of team ?? The next generation towers over this old photographer.
